This is not only one of the world’s famous safari parks but it is one of the oldest game reserves in South Africa. The park is about 4 to 5 hours’ drive from Johannesburg. The park has the big five (lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard) among other wildlife diversities. The park also has Bushman rock paintings and archaeological sites which has a vast history of the man. Upon visiting the park, you can explore using hot air balloons or organize a safari on their sealed roads.

The Drakensberg

This is one of the country’s highest peaks and also one of the famous tourist destinations. In the summer, waterfalls and clear streams emerge making the Drakensberg a beautiful place to be. On the other hand, during the winter season, snow cloaks the peaks of the mountains and still attracts tourists. With Royal Natal National Park, the Giant’s castle game reserve and Ukhahlamba Drakensberg Park as additional tourist attraction sites, tourists flock in Drakensberg to hike, bike, fish, rock climb, raft the waters and hot air balloons rides. There are numerous activities you can engage in while visiting the beautiful KwaZulu – Natal.

The Garden Route

This route runs about 200 KMs through beautiful South Africa coastal sceneries. This route passes through rolling hills, coastal towns, lakes, coastal cliffs and lagoons. While on this route, you will pass through Knysna town, Garden route national park, thick forests, Cango caves, tidal pools and Robberg nature reserve. If you like adventure, you can indulge in bungee jumping, watch whale trips, ride on the back of an elephant and tree canopy tours. You will have to choose the activities you will get involved in because there are many and you cannot get involved in all unless you have ample time.

Located in Table Bay, this island is a reminder of the apartheid in South Africa. In fact, Nelson Mandela was imprisoned on this island for 18 years along with other social misfits. If you are to visit this island, the tour guides are ex-prisoners who share firsthand information about the island and the atrocities they endured. If you love to learn about history, Robben Island is one of the places you should visit while in South Africa.
